Blood rage puts players in control of their Viking clan's warriors, leaders, and ship. The deity Ragnarok, the only final and inevitable destroyer, arrived with the end of the world. This is the Vikings' last chance to prove their glory in the world of the living, to secure a place in Valhalla alongside Odin, the god of the gods. And to do this, as Vikings, there are many ways – they can plunder the lands and wealth of their enemies, crush them in battles, fulfill the tasks assigned by the gods, expand the influence and wealth of their clan, or even sacrifice their lives in a heroic fight and in Ragnarok itself.
Most player strategies are guided by the god cards drawn at the start of each of the three phases. These god cards allow you to use special god privileges to enhance your clan's strength and combat power, improve your leadership qualities, or even tame a mythological creature from the Viking myths. But the privileges are not given in vain – the cards of the gods also indicate various tasks that players seek to fulfill. Depending on the god's card, the type of task also changes – Thor seeks victories in battles, Loki seeks to deceive his enemies, and Heimdall wants to understand the future. These cards and the different gods mean that winning battles is not always the most beneficial path – sometimes a heroic sacrifice brings more glory than an easy victory. In any case, the only wrong strategy in Blood Rage is to remain an ordinary Viking, not seeking posthumous glory.
