In the Istanbul game, you will lead a group of one merchant and four assistants through 16 locations in the marketplace. In each of the areas you will be able to perform a specific action. The challenge is that in order to perform the action, you have to move both the merchant and one assistant there, then leave the assistant (to take care of all the details of the transaction while the merchant concentrates on bigger things). If you want to use the assistant later, the merchant must return to the area to pick it up. So you have to plan ahead carefully and not be left without assistants and unable to do anything.
Istanbul: Big Box is an all-in-one bundle for the Istanbul game, along with the base game and both expansions, Mocha & Baksheesh and Letters & Seals . The set also includes Istanbul: Caravan Leader Mini Expansion, in the form of small tables instead of camel figures.
This combination allows players to play on a larger bazaar of 5×5 tables.
