In the Lords of Waterdeep board game, players are powerful lords seeking to rule the city of Waterdeep.
This is a strategic board game where you take on the role of a Lord whose hired agents and other adventurers carry out tasks earning you rewards and increasing your influence in the city.
At the beginning of the game, players receive lord cards with missions assigned to them, which are not shown to other players.
The game consists of rounds. Each round, players take turns choosing one of the available locations in the city and place their agent there until all agents have been added. Then the players do what the building allows or get what the building offers, that is, cubes of different colors (different adventurers), money, intrigue or quest cards, victory points, etc.
One of the actions is building buildings. Built buildings become the property of that player. Of course, other players can also visit them, but then the owner receives the benefits indicated on the building.
To end their turn, players can complete the task they have. For this, you need to fulfill the requirements specified in the task. Players receive rewards and victory points after completing a task. Some tasks provide long-term benefits, others one-time benefits.
At the start of each round, all unbuilt buildings receive 1 victory point to encourage players to build them. Then each player gets their agents back and everyone can take turns choosing the buildings they want to go to.
The game ends after 8 rounds, after which each player must turn over their Lords card. Then the final round of scoring begins. Each player receives victory points depending on what is written on the Lords card.
Lords of waterdeep board game is very great for beginners and slightly advanced players. It is really a very fun game to feel the game when you get a cube here, spend it there, etc. In addition to the simple game mechanics of placing workers, the game also hides a certain strategy, which can be achieved by using intrigue cards, gaining access to help your worker in an already occupied position, etc.
