But the wild barbarians have learned that Catan is inhabited by wealthy people, so they threaten to ravage the cities of the island. The barbarians can only be defeated by uniting the knights into a common army and resisting them. By expelling the villains, cities regain the ability to grow and develop in trade, politics, and science.
