The lands of Terra Mystica are home to 14 different species in 7 different land types.
Each population type can only live in one of the 7 land types. So, in order to develop and grow, they have to change the world around them into a suitable land for them while competing with others.
Terra Mystica is a board game with very little luck and a lot of strategic planning.
Each player controls one type of population.
Players can build houses that give them more workers, upgrade houses to trade houses that give them money and power tokens. Players can then upgrade the trading house to a castle or one of three temples. The benefits of a castle vary greatly from species to species. Temples provide the ability to evolve in different religions, as well as provide one-time or multiple benefits. Building a temple also allows you to build one shelter building, which allows you to build a city with fewer buildings.
After building a certain amount of buildings on one land, a city is immediately formed, which gives certain privileges and a city key, which gives victory points. Also, these keys allow you to occupy the highest place in one of the three temples. A maximum of one temple's highest position can be occupied with one key.
Another interesting detail of this game – one of the resources is called "power". It can be obtained from certain buildings or by climbing up the ranks of the religion. Power is used to obtain other resources or to perform certain actions. Power is accumulated in three circles and migrates between them. It can only be used when it reaches the third circle.
Also, power is obtained when another player builds or improves buildings near your buildings. You can then choose whether to receive victory points or power tokens. This encourages players to build buildings next to each other, not only for competition, but also for development.
Also, each player must develop their own environment modification capabilities, which allow them to change the surrounding lands in order to further expand their species and build buildings.
The player with the most victory points wins the game.
During the game, victory points are awarded for performing certain actions. The action for which victory points are awarded is determined by the round token. Also, each species can receive victory points for each of their individual achievements.
At the end of the game, the most points can be obtained for the largest continuous cities, for the religions in which you are developed.
