TzolkÃn: The Mayan Calendar In this board game, players represent different Mayan tribes. Tribes collect resources, build buildings and temples, feed their workers and try to collect as many victory points as possible.
The course of the game – at the beginning of each turn, the main game wheel is rotated, which simultaneously rotates the remaining five smaller wheels. As the wheels rotate, they move workers to more places where more valuable resources can be obtained. The main wheel also acts as a timer – once the main wheel spins, the game ends.
For four intervals, players must feed corn to their workers.
During their turn, players can either help or pick up a worker. The number of employees you can take is not limited – you can take from one to all employees.
When placing workers, the lowest location with the cheapest resource must be selected.
There are also five smaller wheels that give the following resources:
1 wheel – wood and food.
Round 2 – all possible resources – wood, stone, corn, gold and crystal skulls. This is the only wheel that gives skulls.
Circle 3 – circle of inventions, temples and buildings. It allows you to purchase technologies, buildings or monuments. Monuments are worth a lot of points.
4th circle – commerce. In it you can exchange resources, hire new workers or make sacrifices to the gods.
Round 5 – placement of skulls. it is an offering to the gods. Sacrificing to the gods gives you resources, victory points, etc.
Other locations on the board:
Temples – There are three temples where players can get victory points. points are obtained through the middle of the temple and already climbing to the top of it.
Technologies – they increase the productivity of wheels. Some of the technologies increase corn production, increase the amount of resources you get, or give extra perks when building buildings or reduce the amount of resources needed to build buildings.
If you are looking for a moderately difficult worker placement and resource gathering game with a very nice design and a strong theme – this game is worth a try. The spinning wheels alone are worth it.. ð
