In this hero-building card game, 1-4 players compete to earn the most Destiny Points, but cooperate to defeat the Adversary. Like the original Call to Adventure , Epic Origins is a tabletop game where players draw cards, cast runes, and complete challenges to earn victory points.
For players familiar with the Call to Adventure system, Epic Origins introduces a high fantasy theme inspired by classic RPGs. The new Heritage card type gives you choices like Elves, Gnomes, Dwarves. Class cards allow you to invest Experience to level up your character. Fantasy themes and challenges are found in 150 playing cards.
The game also features a redesigned Solo and Co-op mode. Double-sided Adversaries provide a rotating challenge: face a lower-level Adversary at the end of Act II, then a Final Adversary at the end of Act III. In Campaign mode, players can unlock new cards by defeating each new Adversary. The game incorporates more rewards for cooperation, but still encourages individual achievement.
While points decide the winner of the game, Call To Adventure encourages storytelling at the end of the game. Epic Origins also has a guide to turning your end table into a D&D 5th Edition character.
