Cthulhu Wars is a strategy board game where players become other races and gods taken from the world of Cthulhu created by HP Lovecraft.
The game takes place on the Earth map. Each player becomes one of four factions in the main game. At the beginning of each turn, players perform a Gather Pwoer action, then during a series of Action Rounds, they spend Power by performing various actions such as hiring a Cultist, conducting battles, summoning monsters, building Gates, casting spells, and awakening the Great Old One. After all players have spent their Power, the Action phase ends and the next turn begins. Victory is determined by points on the Doom Track. The first player to reach 30 points is the winner if he has unlocked all six spells.
All strategies boil down to one goal – players' desire to expand their powers and their desire to unlock all six of their spells. Each faction has a unique collection of monsters, spells, and special powers, and different ways to unlock all of their spells. All factions have many different possible strategies.
