Play as trolls rebuilding their abandoned kingdom beneath the mountain in In the Hall of the Mountain King . With brawn and magic you will unearth riches, excavate ruined tunnels and dig up great halls, and raise the toppled statues of your ancestors back to their place of glory in the heart of the mountain. The game is driven by innovative cascading production mechanics. Time management and tactics are important as you work to restore the glory of your house and win the crown!
Working on the same board with other players (but starting at separate entrances), you mine competing tunnel networks, spending increasingly expensive resources to place polyomino tables on the map. You'll want to extend your tunnels to connect buried gold and resources, with workshop areas that transform resources and especially demolished statues. Statues are important for scoring and you will allow carts to move them through the tunnels to the best scoring locations near the heart of the mountain.
The game ends soon after the last player hires their sixth troll, then the player with the most glory (earned by digging better and better tunnels, by excavating great halls, and by moving statues closer to the heart of the mountain, especially on the appropriate pedestals) is crowned Mountain King and wins!
