Inis is a game with deep roots in Celtic history and prehistory where players win by being elected King of the Isle (Inis).
During the game, players perform feats that are then chanted by bards or engraved by engravers, which reduces the amount of magic needed to win by one. Although one way to victory is enough to become the King of the island, the game with experienced players usually has a tight balance of power, emphasizing the struggle for the leadership of the island capital.
While Inis has "bitches" that are "on the map", it would be a beginner's mistake to play this game as a fighting game, as eliminating other clans reduces your chances of securing victory in Leadership. Peace between different clans, with or without a clear territorial leader, is the most common outcome of mountain movement. Battles will of course happen as Celtic clans can be very restless and a good leader listens to his people. The combat aspect is reflected through the warriors representing the clan miniatures. Foresters, herders and merchants complete the set of twelve miniatures for each player, these occupations are not game-specific but provide variety.
