In Oath , one to six players control the flow of history in ancient lands. Players become agents to strengthen the old regime or try to destroy the current kingdom. The consequences of one game will affect future games and change what resources and actions are available to future players and may even change the game's victory conditions.
If a player takes control by promoting anarchy and distrust, future players will have to put up with a kingdom overrun with bandits and unruly warlords. In later games, one of the warlords may attempt to establish a dynasty, creating a line of rulers that can rule for generations, or be destroyed by the rise of a terrible sect.
There are no fancy production gimmicks, appliqués to aid mechs, or crafting gimmicks in Oath . The game can be reset at any time and does not need to be played only with the same group. Players can use the fully functional solo mode to play a few times a week and then use the same copy of the game to play with friends on a Saturday night. There are no scripts or set end points. The story found in each copy of Oath is created by the players and will be unique to them, its creators.
