Our planet has run out of resources and now we are forced to rise. We discovered a whole series of planets and sent out automated scouts to explore their environments in hopes of colonizing them. Our scouts have confirmed 1 to 6 colonization options.
Planet Unknown is a competitive game for 1-6 players where players try to build the best planet. Each round, each player places one specific-shaped, two-resource table on the planet. Each resource represents the infrastructure needed to support life on the planet. The placement of each table is important to cover the planet effectively and also to build your planet's engine. After placing a table, players perform two actions related to the type of infrastructure on the table. Some table placements activate meteors that make planets harder to upgrade and stop you from getting points in a meteor row or column.
Planet Unknown innovates on popular board game fads by allowing for simultaneous strategic moves, but at the same time with a turn-based style using a space station at the center of the table.
