It is the year 1347, and disaster is about to strike. The Black Death is coming and within the next few years a large part of the population of Europe and North Africa will die of plague.
Rattus players settle in various regions of Europe and North Africa while the plague spreads throughout these regions. Players get help from various medieval professions. Some of them, such as farmers and bakers, help players increase their population. Some, like monks and nuns, use wisdom and faith to avoid the plague, while the war waged by knights and soldiers spreads the plague into new areas. But plague makes no difference. When the rats arrive, no one can feel safe. Eventually the plague leaves and the game ends. Only then will it be clear who managed to keep their inhabitants alive – and win the game!
In addition to several previously released expansions and promotions, Rattus: Big Box also includes previously unreleased material, modules, and bonus cards. Specifically, this remastered edition of the Rattus line includes all the material from the base game and the Pied Piper, Africanus, and Academicus additions. Additional new content is included, and players can add new Guilds & Inns and Bonus modules for even more variety and challenge.
