Rising Sun is a board game for 3-5 players set in feudal Japan. Each player chooses a Clan and competes with other players towards victory by collecting Victory Points during Seasons. Each Clan has a unique trait and varies in terms of Seasonal Income, Starting Honor Rank and Home Province.
During the game, players will make and break alliances, choose political actions, worship gods, modify their clans, and place their figures across Japan. In the process, Honor is an important element in the game of Rising Sun. Having a high Honor gives you several advantages, while a low Honor can give you the confidence of the darker elements of the world. But above all else, Honor determines disputes: whenever there is a dispute, the player with more Honor wins.
In Rising Sun , players are encouraged to use diplomacy, negotiation, and even bribery to gain an advantage. Players can make trades at any point in the game, but no deals are binding.
Victory Points can be obtained in several different ways, such as winning battles, mining the right resources in provinces, and using your Clan Virtues.
