The year is 2050 and all is not well in the world. waves crash the shores, destroying everything they reach. Hurricanes come out of nowhere and destroy entire cities, and out-of-control firestorms devastate almost every continent. Viruses run rampant unstoppable. In this chaos, nefarious factions work from the shadows and conduct disinformation campaigns and mobilize mercenaries to harvest mysterious sources of immeasurable power. These factions, led by bloodthirsty warlords, fight for power and control, but at the same time fight for the fate of humanity. A shadowy conflict begins.
Risk: Shadow Forces is a legacy style game. You'll write on your game, mark it, put stickers on it, and even throw away parts. Every game played will change future games. All players shape the world around them: its history, its cities, even the factions and how they fight. Cards and stickers will come during the game. You'll unlock new rules and see events unfold. No two games will be the same.
More specifically, you will find four sealed envelopes and one sealed box in the game. You will be told to open these things by playing the campaign missions in turn.
Warlords emerged not only to lead certain factions, but also to travel on secret missions. Each of these secret missions is a squad-level skirmish game that will have a direct impact on the world map and undiscovered secret areas.
