Santa Maria is an advanced, moderate Euro game where each player builds and improves a colony. The game features elements of dice collection and strategic engine building. The game has little luck and no direct player conflict. All components are language independent.
In the game, you expand your colony by placing building boards on your colony board. Dice (representing workers) are used to activate buildings. Each die activates a full row or column of buildings in your colony. These buildings are activated in order (left to right or top to bottom), then the dice are placed on the last activated building, blocking that square. So, it is necessary to think about where you will place the new buildings and in what order you will use the dice.
