An ancient evil travels through the world. You and your colleagues must tame this evil. As you travel, you will have to unravel the secrets of another world scattered around the world with the goal of stopping the gathering evil that threatens to shake the world.
Eldritch horror is a co-op horror-adventure game where one to eight players take on the role of investigators, gather clues, and defend the world from the Old Ones who seek to destroy the world. Each Old One has its own unique Mystery and Invention cards.
Mystery cards will show you tasks, places where spirit gates open, dangerous monsters and useful hints.
Each game consists of rounds, and each round has three phases – Action, Clash, and Mythos.
The goal of the game is to save the world from evil by solving three specific mysteries. The phases are as follows:
Action Phase – Each player chooses two of the available actions: Travel one cell, trade with other investigators in the same cell, activate an item/trait, rest to restore one hit point or sanity point, get a train /ship ticket, purchase property.
Quest phase: Players choose what type of quest they want depending on where they are (clues, gates, expedition, rumours). One player can only complete one task. Players roll dice depending on your skill level. If you roll at least one five or six, you complete the task.
If there is a monster in your place, then first of all you have to defeat it. Only after defeating you can complete the desired task. The fight is quite simple: first of all, you roll a die that shows whether you are psychologically ready. If you roll less than the monster's monstrosity, you lose a sanity point. You then roll the dice to determine your strength. Each hit knocks off one of the monster's life points, each miss knocks off your life point.
Mythos Phase: You draw a card from the Mythos Deck and perform its effect. It can be: a new gate, an influx of monsters, the movement of a prophetic sign, rumors and hints.
Rounds continue until all players are eliminated (lose), the Mythos deck runs out (lose), three secrets are revealed (win), or the path of destiny goes to 0.
If it goes to zero, the Old One appears somewhere on Earth and you have one last chance to stop it. to this powerful monster.
The goal of the game is to learn as much as possible about the Ancient One in order to prevent him from entering the earth while fighting the monsters that are already on the earth. As soon as you learn something about the old one (reveal a secret), another mystery appears to be solved. You solve one mystery by collecting clues, the other by killing monsters.
